Weather Day Documentation: How to Claim Weather Delays That Actually Hold Up
Most construction contracts allow time extensions for unusually severe weather — but only if the contractor properly documents each weather-impacted day. A contractor who just says "we lost 15 days to weather" without contemporaneous documentation will get their claim rejected. Proper weather day tracking — daily conditions, productivity impact, affected activities, and comparison to baseline — produces the evidence that supports time extensions without corresponding cost recovery (or more, depending on contract terms).
